SOUTH OXHEY PC NAMED TOP OF THE COPS

A Three Rivers novice PC has been named as Hertfordshire’s Student Constable of the Year.PC Honor Greaves of the South Oxhey Safer Neighbourhood Team scooped the well-deserved title of Student Constable of the Year at the Chief Constable’s annual awards ceremony!Honor, pictured with her Sergeant Dan Amos, joined the force last year but has already made a lasting impression with her work around problem-solving.She has been working with a teenage boy who had committed a string of offences including assault, theft and criminal damage. He had become well known to us and his behaviour was negatively affecting a lot of people’s lives. It was clear to PC Greaves that this young man was lost and he had the potential to spiral further into a life of criminality. So she took the initiative to work with him and his family to offer him opportunities with the Princes’ Trust and arrange extra support. She showed him empathy and as a result he took an instant shine to PC Greaves. He began to positively engage with police, which was a huge turnaround as previously he had viewed us in a negative light. He is now back in education and making better life choices thanks to the one-to-one contact he has received from police and external services. With PC Greaves’ intervention there is no doubt he would have lost his education entirely and continued to offend.A Hertfordshire Police spokesman said: “PC Greaves is a very important part of the team and has made a hugely positive start to her policing career. We can’t wait to see what she does next.”
